Sebastian Vettel
FORMULA one champion Sebastian Vettel has signed a contract extension with Red Bull that will keep him with the team until the end of the 2014 season.
And Red Bull has not ruled out an approach to McLaren's Lewis Hamilton when his contract expires in 2012, potentially putting the heat on Mark Webber's future.
''I am proud to be part of the team and I am proud of what we have archived so far and will achieve together in the future,'' Vettel said.
The admission by Red Bull boss Christian Horner that he would entertain an approach from Hamilton's management may be viewed simply as mischief-making. But it is also impossible to ignore the fact that with McLaren about to start another season with a car that is apparently off the pace, a move to Red Bull is one of few options available to him.
"Lewis is a great driver. You would think he's not going to be happy having another barren year,'' Horner said. "That is not to say we are looking for him to come to our team … That is more of a question you would need to put to Lewis."
